I’m Jessica. I’m a Canadian living in Kentucky with my husband and kids.
Why hand sewing?
Because I love using my hands to make beautiful things. Small stitches, small pieces, big rush.
Also, I’ve yet to discover an activity that calms me as completely as pulling a needle through fabric. It’s old school, unique, and not especially cool. (Like me.) When I’m sewing, the world slows. My thoughts settle. I become reacquainted with my mind.
And on a practical level, slow stitching may be what’s preventing me from going completely crazy. It makes school car lines, poorly-written kids’ shows, and sporting events that require hours of bleacher sitting considerably more fun. It’s just the sweetest way to pass time.
If I’m not stitching hexies, I’m knitting or playing the violin or reading. My real-world job is marketing coordinator for an engineering firm. I used to write books. Maybe I will again someday.
